Photo of the Week: Mimosas

There’s really not much of a story to go along with this one. I was having brunch at one of my neighborhood haunts, The General Greene, and I’d been out and about taking photos with my Lomo LC-A 120.

The LC-A 120 is a fantastic camera: It’s a compact lightweight medium format camera, and it takes magnificent photos. It’s pretty much the medium format equivalent to the legendary Lomo LC-A+.

In any case, I was sitting at the bar and the bartender — whose name I forget, which makes me ashamed of myself — was making mimosas, that standard beverage of brunches the world over. I asked if I could snap a photo and he was more than agreeable. And so, the photo above.

It came out quite well, if I must say so myself, and is one of the main reasons I champion the 120, and medium format film photography overall. Sure it’s a tad more expensive than 35mm photography, but there’s just something about it all that’s just so damn magical.

If you’re ever in Brooklyn, do check out The General Greene. Their brunch is pretty amazing IMHO.
