“Manhattan Sweetheart” Paperback Edition Now Available #jfxxxvi

Today, Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, is the release date for my last book, Manhattan Sweetheart. It’s been a long time coming, and I hope many of you pick it up and enjoy the read.

Manhattan Sweetheart tells the tale of Bash Hart, a NYC newbie who finds himself smitten with the popular and beautiful Persephone Love. Bash is determined to make Persephone his lady — even after he finds out her earth-shattering secret.

This short novel, published by JFXXXVI Books, has a myriad of influences: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Jean-Luc Godard, Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin’s take on The Great Gatsby, Candace Bushnell, From Dusk Till Dawn, and even Mac and Me — no kidding!

Why Do I Write? #jfxxxvi

I received an email the other day from Nick Thacker at WriteHacked that asked this very question. “For a lot of people, the answer’s as simple as ‘I can’t NOT write,’” says Thacker, and I suppose such a facile answer would be true for me as well.

But as Thacker posits, there’s got to be more to it than that. “Why do I spend this time writing when I could be hanging out with friends/family?” he asks. “Why do I write if I’m not making money doing it?”

This got me to thinking: yes, Jay, why do you write?
